Former first round pick, Shane Larkin, is about to kickstart his NBA career after being signed by the Boston Celtics after spending a year in the Euroleague. According to sources on Twitter, Larkin has left a $6.3 million deal on the table in Europe as he agrees to a deal to come back to the NBA.

According to David Pick on Twitter, Larkin was the best free agent, Euroleague point guard after Serbian guard Miloš Teodosić signed with the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this month. Shane isn’t a stranger to the NBA as he was drafted 18th back in the 2013 draft class as he was selected by the Atlanta Hawks, however he fizzled out only just after three seasons in the NBA. Whilst playing for the Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks, the five – foot – eleven point guard only averaged 5.8 points and 3.2 assists.

Whilst playing the last season for Baskonia in Spain, Shane played 33 games and averaged around 13.1 points. Larkin is the latest addition to be added to the Celtic’s back-court which includes Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier. Along with this signing the Celtic’s have also drafted rookie guard Jabari Bird from the second round – 56th pick – of the 2017 draft class.

It’s evident that the Boston Celtics are looking anywhere and everywhere to bolster their point guard depth.
